The Puah Institute has often been instrumental in transporting frozen genetic material from one country where treatment was performed to another country to complete treatment. In early November, Rabbi Gideon Weitzman personally transported frozen embryos from New York to Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem. This is more difficult than it sounds since the embryos cannot pass through the xray machine and are stored in liquid nitrogen which can usually not be taken on an airplane. Special documentation and permission is required in order for the cryopreservation vat to be allowed on and off the airplane. The embryos were transported safely and carefully and we are extremely excited to report that the couple are pregnant with their first baby. Our prayers are with them for an easy delivery and healthy baby :) |
